Every Saturday morning beginning at 7am, the historic district of Sarasota is ready for community, business, fun, and food. That is the when the weekly Sarasota Farmers Market greets the weekend. This 70+ vendor market is an array of plants, produce, food & beverage, artisans, non-profits and more. All are carefully vetted local small businesses. The non-profits are provided space free of charge.
Founded in 1979, the market has been operating for over 40 years and has become a Saturday morning ritual for locals. It's an excellent place to stroll with family and friends and the ever-present furry friend. Yes, the farmer's market is dog-friendly. Sometimes, it seems as though the dogs are actually the main attraction and perhaps even the organizers of the weekly event! They seem to keenly be aware that it's Saturday and they are able to once again, kiss and play with their four-legged friends.
There is live music, along with other activities and entertainment, too. Sometimes there is yoga, performing artists, and themed contests. Attendees can also enjoy breakfast/brunch al fresco at many of the local restaurants. During the seasonal months of October through April, there is often an artisan/craft or fine arts festival downtown, too.
There is plenty of parking, too! Some street parking spots are free for two hours. Others are paid via app, so that you can conveniently add time from your phone. There are two public parking garages that utilize the app pay system, too. One is located on State St and the other is on Palm Ave.
After your morning outing, you can complete your day of fun by joining us on a Taste of Downtown Sarasota guided walking tour that includes several food samplers at local restaurants. It begins at 3:30pm, and we often meet at the entrance of the State St garage. Reservations must be booked at least 48 hours in advance, so please contact us to book your Saturday fun! 941.228.9454
