Lights in Bloom is one of Sarasota's holiday traditions! Every year from early December through early January, the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens is a magical lighted enchanted experience. There are typically around two million lights throughout the 15 acres of lush and exotic plants, trees and flowers. Guests walk along the illuminated paths, to soak in the beauty and peaceful energy.
There are different scenes and themes and the ever-popular Wishing Tree. Visitors can select a colored ribbon (or one of each) to make a wish and try around the tree. Ribbons represent love, energy, good health and peace.
This event was named #6 in USA Today's list of 10 Best Readers Choice contest for Best Botanical Garden Holiday Lights in the country.
It sells out quickly and entry times are staggered. There is onsite parking for an additional fee in the newly built multi-level parking garage and there is a complimentary trolley service from the parking lot of the nearby Sarasota Arts Museum. While it is a walking event over different terrain, wheelchairs are available first-come, first-serve. Food and beverage are available from several local vendor tents throughout the garden, as well as The Green Orchid, the cafe inside the garden.
If you are not able to attend this holiday event, Selby is still an excellent option during your visit to Sarasota, any time of the year! It was featured as one of Time magazine's World's Greatest Places in 2024! https://time.com/6992344/marie-selby-botanical-gardens/
